Two Structures That Support Every Pregnancy
Placenta Assessment
The placenta supplies your baby with oxygen and nutrients. Ultrasound can assess its location, appearance, and, in some cases, function.
Amniotic Fluid Assessment
Amniotic fluid surrounds and protects your baby. Its volume is assessed as part of most pregnancy scans, since both too much and too little can be clinically relevant.
A Finding That Often Resolves Over Time
A low-lying placenta identified earlier in pregnancy often moves further from the cervix as the uterus grows — this is why it’s frequently reassessed rather than acted on immediately.
Assessing Blood Flow
Doppler ultrasound assesses blood flow patterns, used in selected clinical circumstances rather than every routine scan.

What Ultrasound Cannot Tell Us
Every Diagnostic Tool Has Boundaries — and Understanding Them Is Part of Understanding Your Results.
Fetal position can limit visualization of certain structures during a given scan.
Maternal body habitus can affect image quality in some cases.
Not all conditions are visible on ultrasound, or may only become apparent later.
Some structures are easier to assess at certain gestational ages than others.
A normal scan reduces likelihood of certain findings — it does not guarantee a specific outcome.
Repeat or follow-up scans are sometimes needed simply to get a clearer view, not because something is necessarily wrong.
